The deadly stabbing of a Jordan High School student helps lead to new security upgrades at the school.

The boy was allegedly stabbed by another juvenile in August, and now his family's outcries have led to the Canyons School District fast tracking a number of security upgrades at the school.Jordan High student stabbed, killed in fight outside Mountain America Expo Center

Although the incident happened off campus at the Mountain America Expo Center, and the person arrested wasn't a Canyons School District student, the family claims other kids involved still go to Jordan High. Please be assured that the safety of our students and employees is among the top priorities of Jordan High and Canyons School District, and we’ll continue to work on changes to the culture and climate at our school at the same time we’re finalizing the plans for a multimillion-dollar renovation of our building that also includes many new security features and upgrades.

Faculty and staff at Jordan High will be provided ongoing training from the program Choose Gang Free. In addition, Jordan High administrators, teachers, and support staff will continue to encourage the use of SafeUT, Utah’s confidential crisis tipline. Students can use the mobile app to report anything that makes them feel unsafe. These tips are provided to School Resource Officers, as well.”
