The driver had recently dropped off students at the West Caldwell Tech High School, investigators said.
Friday morning shortly after dropping students off at a local high school was charged with DWI and multiple other offenses, police said. Officers were called the Passaic Avenue home at 8:39 a.m.and found that the bus had left the road and crashed into the north side of the ranch-style home, according a statement from the West Caldwell Police Department.
Anthony R. Stuckey, 37, Newark, was the only occupant of the bus as he had recently dropped off students at the West Caldwell Tech High School, authorities said. Stuckey was assisted out of the bus and treated for minor injuries at the scene as officers searched the home and confirmed that nobody was home at the time of the collision, the department said. Stuckey was charged with 15 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, DUI with minor passengers, operating a commercial vehicle with a BAC of .04% or higher, DWI, operating a commercial vehicle without proper CDL, failure to maintain a lane, careless driving and reckless driving, authorities said. The bus was marked with the words Phoenix Transportation Services. No one answered the phone at the Newark-based company Friday morning. West Caldwell Tech High School is part of the Essex County Schools of Technology district. School officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
