A school in San Antonio was briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday morning following a threatening phone call. Police conducted a thorough search of the premises but found no evidence of a threat, and the origin of the call is under investigation, with the possibility of it being a swatting incident.

According to the North East Independent School District around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the district received a phone call from an individual threatening the school. As a precautionary measure, the district immediately called the North East Police Department and implemented their Standard Response Protocol and went into a lockdown. According to NEISD Police, at approximately 8:15 a.m., the school received a call from an individual claiming to be inside the school's restrooms with intentions to "shoot up the school." The call was immediately reported to the Northeast Police Dispatch and the San Antonio Police Department , who swiftly responded to the scene. Officers began arriving at the school around 8:35 a.m. and initiated a thorough search of the premises. Their primary focus was on the restrooms, as the caller had indicated they were inside one. The search expanded to include all classrooms, particularly those with adjoining restrooms, to ensure no threat was present. Chief of Police Wally McCabe stated that eight to 10 officers were deployed throughout the school's hallways, systematically clearing approximately 30 rooms. During the investigation, a student was found in one of the restrooms but had no access to a phone, leaving the origin of the call unclear. SAPD is currently investigating a potential alternative location from which the call may have originated, but no connections have been confirmed. The call did not come from within Royal Ridge Elementary School, and no suspects have been identified at this time. The incident is being treated as a possible swatting call, a dangerous prank intended to provoke a large police response. The person who received the call described the voice as adult and capable of dialogue, suggesting it was not computer-generated. Parents were promptly notified via email about the situation and were given the option to pick up their children once the school was deemed safe. The lockdown was lifted, and the school was placed on hold to allow for a controlled release of students and continuation of the investigation. Chief McCabe expressed frustration over the disruption caused by the hoax, emphasizing the impact on students' education and the unnecessary fear instilled in the community. "It's unfortunate," he said, "in the society that we live in today, we have a lot of this going on throughout the state, throughout the country." SAPD continues to lead the investigation into the source of the call. The lockdown has since been lifted, but a hold remains in place, where students remain in their classrooms, but stay out of the hallways.Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle on Loop 410 near Marbach Road SAN ANTONIO — Authorities are responding to a major accident on Loop 410 near Marbach Road after officials say a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. An officialSAN ANTONIO - Police are working to get to the bottom of car break-ins at a park on the Northeast side.A video on social media shows the damage, saying severalSAN ANTONIO - A woman is dead after attempting to cross a busy inerstateSAN ANTONIO - A school was briefly placed on lockdown early Wednesday after an unknown suspected called in a violent threat.Accodring to the North East IndepeneSAN ANTONIO - A Cuban national, who is accused of ramming Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicles last week during an immigration enforcement check in San
