Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) announced Wednesday that he raised $8.1 million for his Senate campaign during the second quarter of the year, an impressive haul that is likely to widen the fundraising advantages he posses. Here's what you need to know.
At the close of the second quarter, Schiff’s war chest had grown to more than $29.5 million, his campaign said.
Polling has shown a tight race between Schiff and Porter, with Lee running behind. Under California election rules, the top two candidates in the March primary will advance to the November general election, regardless of party.The congressman’s haul places him firmly in the upper echelon of fundraisers among Democratic Senate candidates.
In the California fundraising chase, Schiff has benefited from a higher national profile than his competitors, as well as the endorsement of former House speaker Nancy Pelosi . Schiff also served on the House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
