The Farthings was victim to a fire that ravaged the pub last year, now planning permission has been granted to turn the old pub into business spaces
A scene of complete and utter devastation was left in the wake of a fire which tore through a much-loved pub in Blackburn.
At the time, the Force Incident Manager informed the police that the fire was of "suspicious origin." Earlier this month, LancsLive reported that planners have approved a scheme to demolish the pub, turning the burnt-out structure into a new job-creating industrial estate.Jangeer Yasan has been granted permission to knock-down the fire-ravaged ruins and create 12 new single-storey industrial units in its place.
Local resident James Mitchell shared some images of the inside of the pub as it stands, prior to the building being demolished. In a post reading: "A final farewell to the Farthings AKA the Jockey" - a nod to the pub's previous name. However, the other rooms do appear a little more worse for wear, with clear fire, smoke and water damage seen throughout. Debris is sprawled across the floor in most rooms, with plasterboard and parts of the walls and ceilings succumbed to the pressure of the incident.
