Scattered storm chances throughout the day for Chicago area on Monday
CHICAGO — After a wave of strong thunderstorms Monday morning, more scattered storms are possible for the Chicago area Monday evening and early Tuesday, before conditions dry out for the rest of the week.Monday's storms brought severe thunderstorm warnings for part of the Chicago area and northwest Indiana, with warnings still in effect for parts of Will and Kankakee counties until 9:30 a.m. All other warnings had expired by 9 a.m.
The storms also prompted a ground stop at O'Hare International Airport around 6:15 a.m. That ground stop expired by 7:45 a.m.A marine warning is in effect on Monday due to dangerous conditions along the lakefront. Storms are possible throughout most of the day and into Monday night with stronger storms near the Illinois and Wisconsin state line. Gusty wind and hail are the main storm threats.Monday's highs will be in the upper 80s with partly sunny skies.
