Former top FTX engineer who lived in Sam Bankman-Fried's Bahamas penthouse is trying to cut a deal with fraud prosecutors, report says

Another former top executive at FTX could be about to cut a deal with US prosecutors investigating a fraud case against disgraced ex-CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.

Nishad Singh met with prosecutors at the Southern District of New York US Attorney's Office last week, according to aSingh, who was the crypto exchange's director of engineering at the time of its collapse, met the authorities in a so-called"proffer session", the report said. In these sessions, individuals are usually offered limited immunity to encourage them to speak freely to prosecutors. He has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

If a deal is made, Singh would become the third Bankman-Fried ally to agree to co-operate in US authorities' ongoing investigation into FTX. Gary Wang, who was the exchange's chief technology officer, and Caroline Ellison, who was CEO of FTX's sister trading firm Alameda Research, bothSingh attended high school with Sam Bankman-Fried's younger brother Gabe. He worked as an engineer at Facebook before joining FTX, according to a LinkedIn profile that has now been taken down.
