As Pete Hegseth seeks to become President-elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of Defense his confirmation hearing is an opportunity to prove himself to the sizeable share of Americans who don’t know him or disapprove of his nomination.

FOR THE LEDGER It’s time to get gussied up for a Wild, Wild West themed night at the 22nd Annual Rawls/Paws Ball on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. at the historic Rawls hotel in downtown Enterprise. Proceeds from the event benefit the Save Our Strays Animal Shelter.

“The Ball is our largest single source of revenue, and it comes at a time, following holiday celebrations, when holiday spending tends to reduce disposable income from our donors,” said Bill Brooks, former SOS president and ball co-chairman. “The Ball bridges the holiday donation gap and carries the shelter to the start of our monthly dog washes which run from April through October.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased from the Rawls Restaurant Bar, Shopaholics, Yancey Parkers, Consignment Cat, Sixtel, Purple Sage Salon & Boutique, White Oak Ale House, Century 21, and Grand Pawlace. Online tickets are $53 to cover surcharge and mailing fees – PayPal at [email protected]/Venmo at @no_kill36330.

“While our theme is Wild Wild West, there will be no weapons allowed in the facility,” said LeeAnn Capps, ball co-chairman.
