Martin Lewis, the Money Saving Expert, has introduced a simple method to save £600 by next Christmas without much effort. The method is known as the 1p challenge. The concept is straightforward: start by saving a penny each day, and as the year progresses, those pennies turn into pounds.
Although we haven't even finished with this Christmas, some proactive individuals are already planning their savings for Christmas 2025. December is notoriously the priciest month, often forcing families into debt that lingers long after the festivities.
Martin mentioned on the ITV Martin Lewis Money Show: 'There’s a big savings community out there who do this, it’s called the 1p Challenge.' If you start the challenge later, you can easily catch up by totalling the amounts for the days you've missed. For instance, if you begin on January 20th, you could deposit £2.10 on that day and then continue with the regular schedule on January 21st, saving 21p.
