Foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Syria discuss steps to achieve 'national reconciliation' in Syria, which would help 'bring back Syria to its Arab fold,' says Saudi Foreign Ministry

A meeting of the top diplomats of each country aimed to achieve a "national reconciliation" in Syria that would help "bring back Syria to its Arab fold", the ministry added. "Iranians and Syrians are in Saudi Arabia on the same day. That's totally crazy and was inconceivable a few months ago," a Riyadh-based Arab diplomat told the AFP news agency.
"The Iranian delegation will take the necessary steps to re open the embassy in Riyadh and the consulate general in Jeddah as well as the activities of Iran's permanent representative in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation," Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani said in a statement.
Since the March 10 announcement, the two countries' foreign ministers have met in China and a Saudi technical delegation met Iran's chief of protocol in Tehran last week, according to the official Saudi Press Agency.
