The social security agency says just over R544 million has been collected by individuals who do not qualify for grants but misrepresented their eligibility.

Provincial spokesperson Sandy Godlwana says of the half-a-billion rand fraudulently collected, they've had to write off about half as it was paid to people who are unemployed."These are debt collectors that will use a range of collection activities."All outstanding funds must be paid directly into a SASSA account.
