Saskatoon police responding to 'unknown problem' near three elementary schools
Saskatoon Public Schools spokesperson Veronica Baker said Pleasant Hill Community School, Sutherland School and wâhkôhtowin School each “received a phone call where the caller made a threat to the school” Friday afternoon.
Police were called and all three schools enacted lockdown procedures, Baker said. Saskatoon police say officers were called to the area near Pleasant Hill School at 12:30 p.m, Sutherland School at 12:36 p.m. and wâhkôhtowin School at 1:13 p.m. Videos posted to Facebook by drivers outside Confederation Park and Sutherland School Friday afternoon show multiple police vehicles present at each location.
All students and staff members were safe, Baker said. Lockdowns were lifted once officers had cleared the schools and classes resumed for the remainder of the day. Additional counsellors have been brought in to the schools to provide support for students, Baker said.
