A preliminary hearing was held Wednesday in Saskatoon for Ricky Davis, who is accused of sexually assaulting a child between 2012 and 2017.
Davis, 56, sat in the front row of a Saskatoon provincial courtroom as evidence was called during the one-day hearing, which seeks to establish if there is sufficient evidence to send a case to trial.
Davis has been out of custody since he was charged in April 2021 with one count of sexual assault between February 2012 and December 2017, when the alleged victim was between the ages of five and nine. In a news release, Saskatoon police said the child and Davis “were known to each other,” but did not specify whether the allegation pertains to his role as a coach.
