As of Thursday, the province’s Ministry of Health is releasing community respiratory illness surveillance program reports — CRISP reports — combining COVID-19 monitoring with reporting of influenza and other respiratory illnesses. The reports will be issued biweekly during what’s known as respiratory virus season.We deliver the local news you need in these turbulent times on weekdays at 3 p.m.

Between Oct. 2 and 8, 162 people were admitted to hospital for COVID-19, nine people were in intensive care and five deaths were reported. According to the report, hospitalizations for COVID-19 have “plateaued” at about 160 admissions per week, and ICU admissions at about nine per week.
