Sarawak police step up hunt for Indonesian escapees

SARAWAK police have deployed more that 100 officers and men, including members of the Tiger platoon of the General Operations Force, in the second day of their hunt for two Indonesians who escaped from their lock-up in the small agricultural town of Tapah, some 30km from Kuching. The two, aged 21 and 31, who had been in detention since June 7 over “immigration-related offences”, made their dash for freedom at around 1pm yesterday.
