MIRI: Over 5,000 personnel from various agencies have been hard at work sanitising public and private places throughout Sarawak in the battle against Covid-19.
"The sanitisation operations teams have so far covered 86 government buildings, 50 public market complexes, 17 shopping malls, 78 religious buildings and places of worship, ” said the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department on Wednesday .
It added that the teams have also sanitised compounds in 26 housing estates and commercial centres, 37 community halls, 21 transport hubs and stations, six hotels and three industrial sites.The department added they had taken led the teams operating in Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Bintulu and rural bazaars in all 14 divisions in Sarawak.
These 5,000 personnel involved come from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, Armed Forces, Police, Rela, Civil Defence Unit, Health Department, districts and city councils as well as community volunteers.Kuching has a population of about 650,000 while Miri has about 350,000. Sarawak has recorded 15 deaths due to Covid-19 and there are about 400 patients in the 36 hospitals statewide.
