The arts festival is the longest-running of its kind in the world.
Saratoga High School’s drama program is heading to Scotland to perform at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the summer of 2024.
Saratoga is just one of 30 high schools selected to perform at Fringe, the largest and longest-running arts festival in the world, the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District announced. “Attending our performing arts theatrical productions has been a highlight of my time here,” said Superintendent Bill W. Sanderson. “Our student actors and staff directors and teachers are incredibly talented, and I’m thrilled that they will be able to highlight their talent at such a well-known and respected festival.”
The students will be part of the American High School Theater Festival, which is part of the larger Festival Fringe. The group has not selected which production it will perform yet, a spokesperson from the school district said. They are waiting to see how many students sign up. The application process to participate in the festival was extensive. The district had to write a number of essays describing the department, its community involvement and the shows it produced, which were judged by professionals across the country.
