The South African Police Service has announced the addition of 552 newly trained constables to its force. These dedicated individuals are part of a larger group of 10,000 police officers who have already been deployed to various stations:
Among these recruits, 245 hold Bachelor of Science degrees, with a significant number being assigned to different departments within the Forensic Science Laboratories Division to work as forensic analysts. Their primary role as forensic analysts is to meticulously analyse forensic evidence used in court proceedings, ensuring that strong convictions are obtained for individuals who have violated the law.
Other individuals, including reservists who have now become fully-fledged constables, will be assigned to stations to strengthen the grassroots level of policing. The passing-out parades were held simultaneously at SAPS academies in Limpopo and the Eastern Cape. The ceremonies were overseen by the SAPS leadership, including the Minister of Police General Bheki Cele, and the Deputy Minister of Police Mr Cassel Mathale.
There are currently 8,600 trainees undergoing the Basic Police Learning Development Programme in SAPS academies, with an additional 400 set to begin their training in July 2023. The remaining 1,000 trainees are scheduled to commence their training in January 2024. Looking ahead, the recruitment of 10 000 police officers for the 2024/2025 financial year is set to commence in July 2023. Applications will be open to young men and women between the ages of 18 and 30, in possession of a senior certificate, with no criminal record.Tour Cape Town with these great deals on cars for under 100K – find car listings
