BREAKING: SAPD has filed murder charges against three officers who shot and killed a woman on the Southwest Side.
San Antonio police investigate the scene where a woman in her 40s was killed by police responding to reports that she destroyed a fire alarm early Friday in at an apartment complex in the 6200 block of Old Pearsall Road.The San Antonio Police Department has filed murder charges against three officers who shot and killed a woman early Friday morning on the Southwest Side.
Around 8:30 p.m. Friday, the department issued a news release saying that Sgt. Alfred Flores and Officers Eleazar Alejandro and Nathaniel Villalobos had been suspended without pay, and that homicide detectives"have filed murder charges against the above listed officers following a criminal investigation into this shooting."
At a 9 p.m. news conference, Police Chief William McManus said the officers were in custody. McManus said the woman was having a mental health crisis when the officers encountered her. He apologized to her family and said the officers' use of deadly force does not"accurately reflect" SAPD values.
