SANTACO Western Cape reviews urgent interdict granted to City of Cape Town and Golden Arrow Bus Service, as its legal team analyzes the situation. SANTACO LegalAction InterdictReview
The order states that no person, vehicle, taxi or driver may unreasonably obstruct, interfere or block any vehicle on any public road in a manner as to harm passengers, or delay or impede the flow of traffic.
“Yes indeed we got that interdict but our lawyers are dealing with the issues in court. We want to as Santaco unequivocally distance ourselves from what is happening out there. The looting is no longer about the industry, the strike actually.”On Monday, City of Cape Town authorities say officers made 27 arrests following the blockade of the N-2 highway by taxi drivers, while police have arrested eight taxi drivers in Mfuleni.
Mayco Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said numerous incidents have been reported, including four Golden Arrow buses being torched.
