Visitors from around the county and beyond enjoyed the many games, treats and spectacles at this year’s Santa Cruz County Fair.
WATSONVILLE — Visitors from around the county and beyond on Saturday flocked to the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville to enjoy spectacles such as “Twinkle Time” and the magic of captain Jack Spareribs, carnival rides, unusual collections, pig races, livestock auctions, equestrian competitions and fair food classics such as corn dogs, turkey legs, kettle corn and other more unconventional fares.
The wide selection of sweet and savory treats draws many to the fair, which closes its five-day run on Sunday, such as Evan Ochoa de Leon of Watsonville who was visiting with his grandmother Maggie de Leon and her 7-year-old grandson Samuel Duran who loves the food, animals and carnival games. “We came to see how well their squash did, and we just love this fair. It’s such a throwback,” said Martha Singleton. “I am excited to see the quilts and the All Alaskan Racing Pigs.”
