SANTA CLARA – Authorities were investigating an armed carjacking in Santa Clara.

The incident was reported just before midnight Friday on the 2800 block of Homestead Road, near Kiely Boulevard, the Santa Clara Police Department said in a news release Monday. According to the victim and a witness, three males fired a gun into the air and took the victim’s vehicle, police said. Officers recovered spent shell casings at the scene.Merced County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the vehicle at a residence on the 29000 block of Marshall Road in Gustine. They also contacted three people who matched the suspect descriptions provided by the victim and witness, police said.

Santa Clara police detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence. They found items that belonged to the victim, seized two firearms and recovered the vehicle, police said. Police did not release any other information about the case, including whether any arrests were made.
