An accident involving a trash truck left a sanitation worker dead in Ridley Park, Delaware County.& Sons crew was collecting trash on the 200 block of West Hinckley Avenue.
The company tells Action News the truck was reversing on Hickley Avenue when it struck 31-year-old Frank Daniels, a sanitation worker for the company. Police say Daniels got caught under the tires of the truck and was run over. He died from his injuries.This deadly incident hits closed to home for Mark and Lisa Robinson. Not only did it happen just feet from their house, but they have gotten to know the crew over the years.
"I'm a gardener. I'm out here when they come past, and we offer them water and they are very courteous and good friendly crew. They've been the same crew for a long time, so we know them all," said Lisa Robinson.& Sons released this statement on the incident: "Emergency personnel were immediately contacted and the Ridley Park Police Department is conducting a detailed accident investigation, which includes speaking with the other helper and the truck driver, as well as company management personnel. Details of their investigation will be forthcoming at a later date. Family members of Mr. Daniels have been spoken to, and the company will stay in close contact with them during this very difficult time.
