School officials provided updates on the investigation Friday, saying the bomb threats were part of a widespread hoax. They said the cyber hoax targeted many schools across the United States.

"In both incidents, our emergency systems functioned seamlessly, and our extraordinary faculty and staff guided students to safe, off-campus assembly locations within minutes," the statement reads. "All students, faculty, and staff remained entirely safe and accounted for throughout both evacuations. "due to a bomb threat on Friday, May 29. Police cleared the school with the help of K9s, and students returned on Monday.

"Moving forward, we will continue to build our relationship with the Sandy City Police Department, conduct thorough debriefings, support our students' wellbeing through our counseling team, and convene a dedicated task force to identify key learnings," school officials said. Waterford officials reassured the community that the evacuations were out of caution and that the school remains "strong, safe and secure as the school year comes to a close.
