The Sandy Creek community has rallied together to provide a significant gift to one of its own this holiday season. Ashlee Willis, whose home was destroyed in the July 4th floods, received nearly $100,000 to rebuild, thanks to the efforts of her neighbors and the organization Rebuild Sandy Creek.
"I do feel like a special girl right now. And it’s a lot. Like I said, what a gift. A gift of a home," she said. The July floods left many in Sandy Creek without homes, with some residents still living in trailers and tents. Despite the challenges, Willis noted the strength of her community: "But the way this community is pulled together has been truly beautiful to watch. And I’m proud to be here still, and I can’t wait to still be here."Rebuild Sandy Creek aims to continue raising funds to assist more families affected by the floods. Michelle Varela, Director of the organization, emphasized the importance of ongoing support: "We just need to keep pushing for as much exposure as possible, letting people know that we're here and that we're not going to give up on them."Willis plans to begin rebuilding her home after the new year, grateful for the support of her community when other agencies could not provide assistance.SAN ANTONIO - The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a body, which may be that of missing 19-year-old Camila Olmos, has been found.According to inPolice and emergency crews are working to put out a large house fire that sparked Monday afternoon in Georgetown.Police are actively searching for four suspects involved in an auto theft and debit card abuse case from early December in northwest Austin. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office arrested a 28-year-old man over the weekend after he attempted to kidnap a child at a park near Georgetown.Christopher GThe Soapy Falls Express Car Wash family in Round Rock is remembering two of their employees who tragically lost their lives in a multi-vehicle crash on Christma
