Police have identified a San Marcos woman who was shot to death last week, and say the man accused of killing her is in custody and charged with murder. At about 2:30 p.m. Friday, police received a 911 call from a man who said that he had just 'killed his wife' and had 'shot her,' according to a news release the San Marcos Police Department sent on Monday. The caller then hung up.

Entering the apartment, they found Victoria Valadez, 43, in the back bedroom with a fatal gunshot wound. Police detectives linked Juan Manuel Yanez, 47, to the phone number used for the call, according to police officials. He was not at the scene when police arrived.
