SAN JOSE — Authorities on Sunday were investigating the death of a man at a Valley Medical Center parking structure as a suspicious circumstance.
Around 9:40 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of an injury hit-and-run collision initially reported near South Bascom and Fruitdale avenues. Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies also responded, and a spokesman initially described the incident as police activity occurring about a half-mile north at South Bascom and Moorpark avenues, with no ongoing threat to public safety.
In a statement Sunday afternoon, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said deputies responded to a parking structure on the hospital campus for a report of an unresponsive male. Deputies arrived and found the male, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and continued to investigate.Contact George Kelly at 408-859-5180.
