A suspect was arrested in connection to an early January attempted kidnapping and robbery, police say.
A man was arrested last week after an early January incident in which he allegedly held a knife to a woman’s neck,Police say officers responded to a report of a kidnapping on the 5000 block of Lapa Drive, near John Mise Park, at 9 p.m. on Jan. 10. The suspect allegedly approached a woman from behind, held a knife to her throat and forced her to sit down on a nearby sidewalk.
When the suspect attempted to tape the victim’s mouth shut with packing tape and take her purse, she fought back, police say. She ran away and neighbors came to her aid. The suspect fled the area and officers were unable to locate him. Upon investigation of the area, police found evidence linking the suspect to the crime scene. Authorities say they determined the suspect was a known associate of the victim.
