Some parents, students and teachers in the San Diego Unified School District are seething over having no air conditioning in some schools.
“San Diego High is the only campus not fully air conditioned,” said the district’s Facility and Communications Supervisor Samer Naja. But that does not mean the air conditioning units are working at schools that do have air conditioning.
The campus sits on city-owned property and until a new long-term lease could be signed with the city, the district did not want to spend bond money, Naja said. The lease has recently been signed and construction is underway to get the classrooms that never had AC new air conditioning.“He’ll be graduated by the time this is all settled,” referring to her son.
