Patricia McGurk-Daniel, a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol, has taken over as chief patrol agent in charge of the San Diego sector, the Border Patrol announced Thursday.

In this Feb. 2020 file photo, then-Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke met with media members to discuss his priorities as he took command of the San Diego sector. The sector comprises eight stations in San Diego, Imperial Beach, El Cajon, Chula Vista, Campo, Boulevard, San Clemente and Murrieta. As of fiscal year 2020, the most recent year for which data were available, there were about 2,300 agents assigned to the sector.
