Shooting occurred on Bonnie View Drive after police responded to report of a person with a firearm
A San Diego police officer shot and critically wounded a 60-year-old man Wednesday afternoon in the garage of a San Carlos home after the man’s parents reported he was suicidal and threatening them with a gun, police said.
The man’s 91-year-old father told police his son was “acting suicidal” and threatening him and his 89-year-old wife “with a loaded firearm,” San Diego police homicide Capt. Richard Freedman said during a news briefing Wednesday night near the scene. One of the officers fired at the man, striking him at least once, Freedman said. Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he was in critical condition as of 8 p.m.
