A San Diego police officer fatally shot a man who approached officers with a knife in the Bird Rock area of La Jolla , causing road closures for several hours following the altercation on Saturday morning.
An officer shot the man, the department said. Officers immediately provided medical aid and paramedics took him to a hospital, where he later died. No officers were injured.The officer who fired the fatal shot has been employed with SDPD for three years and is currently assigned to SDPD’s Northern Division.
