San Diego police ID woman who stabbed officer and deputies and officers who fatally shot her [Breaking]

Police on Tuesday identified the woman who they say stabbed an officer during an eviction attempt last week in Little Italy, as well as the sheriff’s deputies and police officer who opened fire, killing her at the scene.with a kitchen knife last Thursday afternoon while authorities were trying to evict her from a West Beech Street apartment, police Lt. Matt Dobbs said in a news release.

Rogelio Medina has worked for the San Diego Police Department for 13 years and is assigned to the canine unit, Dobbs said. While they waited for backup, the deputies learned from an employee at the condos that the woman had allegedly threatened a maintenance worker with a knife one day prior, according to Dobbs, who said the deputies tried to communicate with the woman for 40 to 45 minutes, to no avail.

Li was struck “at least once by the gunfire” from the deputies and officer, Dobbs said. She died at the scene.
