UPDATE: SDPD investigators say the man found dead in Otay Valley Regional park Sunday was discovered by family members who had reported him missing the day before. Police also announced an arrest in the case.
Investigators said Gonzalez had suffered trauma to his upper body, indicating he was the victim of a violent crime, and a homicide investigation was launched, SDPD said. On Monday, SDPD investigators said Gonzalez was stabbed following an argument with a suspect.Sign up for NBC San Diego newsletters.
Investigators say Gonzalez was found near his home and frequented the area in the park where he was found. The suspect was identified as Milton Daniel Tax Zuzun, an 18-year-old from Mexico. Monday Morning at around 1:30 p.m., SDPD investigators found Zuzun in custody at a San Diego County jail and rebooked him on one count of murder, the department said.
Zuzun had been arrested by Chula Vista police Friday night on an unrelated vandalism charge, according to SDPD. He was picked up not far away from the spot Gonzalez's body was found.
