A 22-year-old man suffered a brain bleed and other non life-threatening injuries early Sunday morning when he ran into a street and was hit by a car in City Heights, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Police said the man ran into the westbound traffic lanes of Home Avenue near Fairmount Avenue around 3:45 a.m. and was struck by a Toyota Prius heading west on Home. The 31-year-old driver of the car remained on the scene, a police spokesperson said. The victim was taken to a hospital with broken ribs and a lacerated spleen in addition to his head injury, said San Diego police Officer Sarah Foster.
Witnesses told OnScene TV the man had been arguing with his wife before he ran into the road. The collision sent the man several feet into the air and about 25 feet away from where he was struck, a witness told OnScene TV.
