The two golden retrievers were dropped off a day apart from one another at the San Diego Humane Society’s Oceanside campus
One of two golden retrievers dropped off by a man who identified himself as “Brandon” at the San Diego Humane Society’s Oceanside Campus on July 25 and July 26. San Diego Humane Society officials are searching for answers after discovering that two young golden retrievers who were dropped off on their doorstep without an owner were possibly abused.
The male dogs, 9 to 10 months old, were brought in last week to the Humane Society’s Oceanside campus by a man who said he found the dogs as strays, according to spokesperson Nina Thompson.A security camera at the San Diego Humane Society campus in Oceanside captures a man drop one of two golden retrievers that officials say were possibly abused. “It is important to note that the man who identified himself as Brandon is not currently a suspect,” said Chief of Humane Law Enforcement Jace Huggins. “We are hoping to learn more about these dogs and are asking our community to help us gather information if they know anything.” The microchips inside the golden retrievers were registered to the American Kennel Club, but the chips were never updated with ownership information, Thompson said. “Given the condition of the dogs, and the potential that they were intentionally harmed, San Diego Humane Society’s Humane Law Enforcement would like to speak to anyone who may have information about the dogs, or the person who brought the dogs in,” Thompson said. The man who brought the dogs in was driving a white Toyota 4Runner, Thompson said. The investigation is currently being handled by the organization’s humane officers, who get their enforcement powers from a state law that allows them to exercise the powers of a peace officer while investigating animal-related crimes. Officials asked anyone with information about the dogs to contact the San Diego Humane Society dispatch at 299-7012 or email investigations@sdhumane.org.Navy christens destroyer named after heroic Camp Pendleton MarineNew $30 million park gets go-ahead for CarlsbadSan Diego’s short-term rental rules have had a disastrous effectSan Diego unseated as No. 1 metro with fastest-growing home pricesPadres Daily: A trip to talk about; Musgrove’s push; Machado’s weekend; Bogaerts’ slug
