SAN DIEGO – The San Diego County Board of Supervisors are discussing how to replace Nathan Fletcher.

After the discussion and public hearing, the Supervisors will vote to appoint someone, or to hold a special election. Supervisor Jim Desmond is strongly in favor of holding a special election to allow the residents of District 4 to pick their representative, but the other three Supervisors have not signaled which way they will vote.

A special election will ensure that the residents can evaluate and compare the candidates, their positions, and their qualifications rather than be decided by four politicians outside District 4.
