David Dalager will start Monday as interim personnel director
Two weeks after ousting the longtime San Diego personnel director, the civil service commission named an assistant public-utilities official to lead the department that oversees city hiring, firing, raises and leaves. The volunteer commission, whose president resigned in response to the split-vote decision last month to terminate Douglas Edwards, announced Thursday that David Dalager would take over as the interim personnel director.
At the commission meeting Thursday, Olsen publicly thanked Lin for her service to the city. He also suggested the resignation should be a wake-up call to the other commissioners. “It’s troubling, it’s alarming,” Olsen said, adding that Lin's departure should prompt 'a moment of self-reflection.' He then recommended that the commission delay naming a new president until her successor is seated. But the balance of commissioners declined to publicly acknowledge Lin’s service.
