San Diego will mark Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a variety of community events, including the Alliance San Diego's All Peoples Celebration and the WorldBeat Cultural Center's annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration. The city also held weekend celebrations like the MLK Jr. Parade and 5K Run/Walk.
The rising full moon passes behind the Martin Luther King Memorial and the Washington Monument. MLK Day is the only federal holiday dedicated to volunteer service.
In Balboa Park, Alliance San Diego will host its 37th annual All Peoples Celebration, where community members can enjoy live music and dance performances. The free, all-ages event will feature a full slate of live musical performances, guest speakers, and craft vendors from noon until 6 p.m.
