SAN CARLOS – A 22-year veteran and captain of the San Mateo County sheriff’s office has been named the new police chief for the city of San Carlos.
Mark Myers was one of the first deputies to work in San Carlos when the city started its contract with the county sheriff’s office in 2010.“I am honored to have been entrusted with this responsibility and am committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and community engagement,” Myers said in a statement released Monday.
In his previous position in the sheriff’s department, he served numerous roles, including on the county SWAT team and as a field training officer, and working on patrol and in the crime suppression unit. San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus congratulated Myers on his new role, saying that during his tenure in her department, he “consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication, outstanding leadership, and a deep commitment to public safety.”
