Sunken Garden Theater may receive a $62 million facelift, but San Antonio native Molly Wright fears it will negatively affect her beloved Brackenridge Park.

PUBLISHED 10:12 PM CST Feb. 18, 2022SAN ANTONIO — Molly Wright always feels like a kid again when she visits Brackenridge Park in San Antonio. It’s where she and her family used to eat tacos and create long-lasting memories, so on a recent weekday she broke bread with Spectrum News 1.

She’s protective of the space because it’s more than just a park to her. She says it’s one of the very few spaces in San Antonio where all walks of life from all parts of town come together, especially on Easter Sunday. “I’m not saying that’s bad, that they are going to expand it to the people, but they come here the way it is now. You don’t need to expand this,” Wright said.

Scott said that the conservancy has listened to the concerns of citizens like Wright and plans to find that balance of growing the amphitheater while keeping those traditions of this park alive.
