A cold front on Thursday is expected to bring overnight temperatures to 35 degrees., high temperatures in San Antonio are expected to plunge more than 20 degrees with lows near freezing as a cold front settles into the region Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
The chilly forecast is a stark departure from Wednesday’s expected high of 82. The high on Thursday is only expected to reach 60, and the overnight low into Friday is forecast to be 35. The highs on Friday and Saturday are expected to be 55 and 58, respectively.That wild temperature ride is normal for this time of year, said Bob Fogerty, a meteorologist with the NWS.
While a line of quick moving showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected to develop over the Hill Country on Thursday night, the wet weather is expected to miss San Antonio. But the Alamo City can expect strong and gusty winds Wednesday through Friday, with wind speeds as high as 15 to 25 mph. The strongest winds generally look to be over the Hill Country and portions of the Edwards Plateau, which could spark near-critical fire conditions over Val Verde County on Wednesday evening, the government forecaster said.
While San Antonio will see windy conditions, its 20 percent humidity will likely spare the area from elevated fire conditions, Fogerty said.
