“The defeat of Prop A is a victory for local families, for local businesses, and or our quality of life,” wrote San Antonio SAFE PAC Co-Chairs Eddie Aldrete and April Ancira in a statement just minutes after early vote totals posted.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. and ballots will be counted throughout the evening, but historically, most votes are cast during the early voting period, making it extremely unlikely that proponents can make up the 48.5% spread — a more than 45,000 vote difference.
