Air temperatures are expected to head back toward 100 again in a few days, as another high pressure system returns to the area.

forecasts for Monday and the Fourth of July holiday on Tuesday look identical: Temperatures will remain in the mid-90s while the heat index, or “feels like” temperature that factors in humidity, will top out at around 100 degrees. The precipitation that forecasters late last week expected for this time has dissipated, said Orlando Bermudez, a weather service meteorologist at the New Braunfels office.

“The rain chances are diminished, for today we don’t show any precipitation for San Antonio,” Bermudez said Monday. “Looking ahead, it’s still dry for Tuesday for the celebration. There’s a 10 percent chance of rain Tuesday morning, but it’s pretty much a dry forecast.” Air temperatures are expected to head back toward 100 again in a few days, Bermudez added, as the area remains dry.

“Looking at the highs for today we are forecasting 96 and then by Friday we’re looking at 98 to 99 degrees,” Bermudez said. “Further into the weekend, we’re looking at temperatures back in the 100s.” The area is warming back up because of an incoming high pressure system, Bermudez added. That high pressure system will establish itself by the weekend, causing air temperatures to potentially cross the 100-degree threshold again.
