Reagan High School grad Dawson Wayne will face the judges -- and the public -- in night two of the Top 26 performances from Hawaii.
The episode airs at 7 p.m. on KSAT and also will stream on Hulu. It is being broadcast fromPerformers, who are competing for the first time for the public’s vote, are being mentored tonight by singer Noah Cyrus.
Wayne, whose given name is Dawson Rice, made the cut for the Top 26 during the Showstoppers competition last week with a performance of Cody Fry’s “Flying.” He described the song as “a story about my faith.”Judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan described him as “an artist,” and Katie Perry told him to stay true to his own identity.
“Showstoppers was the best two minutes of my life,” Wayne said during the segment. “I’ve always wanted to be on the 'American Idol' stage and being able to do that was just so cool.”
