The U.S. Labor Department had sued the San Antonio restaurant last year alleging it had made employees share gratuities with at least one boss.

The owner of the San Antonio Italian restaurant and bar Barbaro has agreed to pay a total of $28,920 to 22 employees to settle allegations that it made them share gratuities with at least one of their managers. Terms of the settlement between Pizza Bar LLC, which does business as Barbaro , and the U.S. Labor Department were included in a Wednesday court filing asking U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez to approve the deal.

Feds accuse San Antonio restaurant of violating labor laws, making employees share tips with manager The agency never specified in its lawsuit the amount it was seeking to recover other than to say Barbaro owed compensation for tips it unlawfully kept and for unpaid minimum wages and overtime. Barbaro is part of restaurateur Chad Carey’s Empty Stomach Group, which consists of restaurants, bars, and nightlife venues in San Antonio. Barbaro is at 2720 McCullough Ave.
