A woman was shot and rushed to a local hospital in critical condition after a Northwest Side homeowner believed she was a potential burglar, San Antonio police said.

The shooting happened at around 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Bradford Avenue, not far from South General McMullen Drive and Culebra Road.According to an SAPD sergeant at the scene, a male homeowner in his 30s was outside working on his car when an unknown female approached his property. The man allegedly asked the woman what she was doing on his property, but police said she ignored him. Instead, the woman began walking toward the homeowner’s front door.
Police said the homeowner, still thinking the woman was a potential burglar, then told her that he had a gun, retrieved the weapon and told her to get off of his property. After SAPD said the woman refused to leave, the homeowner shot her once in the chest. The woman, who police said is in her mid 30s, then ran to another neighbor’s house asking for help with the gunshot wound.At this time, San Antonio Police said the man is not under arrest.
