First Baptist Church of San Antonio has hosted most of its concerts, but the philharmonic aims to make a downtown cathedral a permanent home.
The San Antonio Philharmonic is taking the first steps toward making the Scottish Rite Cathedral downtown its permanent home. “This is something that we’ve been working on for quite some time and we think we’re at that point where we can make this public and let people know that these two organizations, I think, create an incredible opportunity for the community,” said Roberto Treviño, executive director for the philharmonic.

That’s what the building was built for,” said Park, who has been involved with the organization for about 12 years. “These days, we have a lot more venues, and the Scottish Rite has become more of a purely Masonic building. “We still have shows there and we rent it out, but it’s not being used to its full capacity.

Most of its concerts have been played at the First Baptist Church of San Antonio, with occasional jaunts to the Majestic Theatre.
