The Historic and Design Review Commission gave the green light to designs for a hotel across from Main Plaza and a mixed-use project along Mission Reach.
After their initial designs for a 10-story hotel across from Main Plaza downtown were criticized, developers revised their plans and obtained approval from a city panel this week. Austin -based Merritt Development Group and Atlanta -based Peachtree Group want to build a 171-room Residence Inn by Marriott on an empty lot at the corner of North Main Avenue and East Commerce Street . The Historic and Design Review Commission on Wednesday gave the final green light to the designs.
Luxury InterContinental hotel opens with dining options in downtown San Antonio Merritt and Peachtree’s architects adjusted the East Commerce Street facade, screened mechanical equipment from view and replaced stone cladding at the street level with brick, among other changes. City staff suggested commissioners approve the designs Wednesday with stipulations for windows, landscaping and signage.
