The state’s total labor force hit a new high of 15.3 million people. Over the past 12 months, the state’s payrolls have added 276,000 positions.

The number of people at work across Texas dipped slightly in June while the number seeking jobs in San Antonio increased by more than 10,000. The unemployment rate in the San Antonio - New Braunfels metro area jumped to 4.2%, the Texas Workforce Commission said, up from 3.5% a month earlier. Across the state, the rate held steady at 4%, just below the national average.

Private education and health service added 3,900 jobs and manufacturing added 2,500. In the San Antonio-New Braunfels metro, the number of construction jobs increased 2.3% to 75,300. Manufacturing jobs increased 1.6% and private education and health services jobs gained by 1.4%.
